Virtues and Vices and Sr. Mary Wilhelmina
In recent weeks, I've been reading The Battle of Virtues and Vices: Defending the Interior Castle of the Soul by Pope St Leo IX and The Life of Sr Mary Wilhelmina. Both titles are from TAN Books.
In Virtues and Vices, Pope St Leo IX ready gets to the heart of the matter and helps us to win the spiritual victory over sin.
I found this book really encourages and inspires the reader to stay focused on the spiritual life while they fight the good fight.
We must carry on and protect our soul from the evil in the world.
The Life of Sr. Mary Wilhelmina was a real eye opener as it gives readers an inside look into the woman who founded the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles.
In life, she remained faithful to the teachings and traditions of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church even while dealing with the issues around her such as racial tensions among other things.
While reading this book, I found that it was obvious that love of God and her faith was instrumental in all that she done throughout her life.
She was faithful to the very end.
I didn't know about Sr. Mary Wilhelmina until I heard about the Sisters preparing for the reinterment of her remains earlier this year. It was then that something miraculous happened. Sr Mary's body appeared to be incorrupt.
People from all over came to view Sister Mary Wilhelmina ‘s body and pray.
These are two books I highly recommend. I believe they’re a must have for all homes, parishes, and educational institutions.
