The Little Office and Practical Meditations
The Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a great way to begin praying with the Church especially if you’re not familiar with the Liturgy of the Hours. It is also a good place to start in exploring a devotion to Our Lady.
The Little Office is a form of liturgical prayer.
I’ve had experience with using various editions of the Little Office from different publishers. I really like this edition from Angelus Press because it is a beautiful compact book that also includes the office of the dead.
Practical Meditations is a great book that includes daily meditations on the life of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. It was composed chiefly for the use of Religious by a Father of the Society of Jesus.
Before the meditations, readers will find a table of contents and an outline of each meditation. This book reminds me of their other titles such as the Treasury of the Sacred Heart and their well known, 1962 Daily Missal.
Both the Little Office and Practical Meditations are great resources for building your devotion to both Our Lord, Jesus Christ and Our Blessed Mother. I highly recommend both titles if you’re looking for a place to start.
Thank you to Angelus Press for the opportunity to share my thoughts on both titles.
