I was so excited to get the book “A Year With The Popes: Daily Meditations with the Vicar of Christ”. It actually arrived today in my mailbox.
Fr Jeffrey Kirby, STD has done an excellent job in bringing together papal teachings (meditations) from the Men who’ve been called throughout the history of the Church to become the Vicar of Christ. Before each meditation, Fr Kirby gives a summary about the papal teaching (meditation) for each day which is followed by a papal teaching (meditation) and concludes with a point to consider and a closing prayer.
As someone who is interested in the Papacy and it’s history, I was very excited and pleased to learn of this book. I like how it includes papal teachings (meditations) from various Popes throughout history from St Peter to Francis. The papal teachings (meditations) found throughout this book occurred at important moments through history.
This is in my opinion, a great resource to include in your library, home, or parish. For me, I have other books which include meditations by Pope(s) Leo XIII, Pius XII, John XXIII, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI. This book by Fr Kirby is a great companion to those other books I have. It compliments them.
Thank you TAN Books and Fr Jeffrey Kirby, STD for making this book available and for allowing me the opportunity to give my thoughts. I highly recommend it.
I can’t put this book down.
